New Zealand's strategic export control law already requires expert knowledge and experience for many exporters to navigate its complexities and remain compliant with the law. It is undergoing  a review which may have far reaching consequences, especially for those who deal with strategic goods, software or technology.  

There are proposed controls on transfers of certain technical information to foreign nationals in New Zealand (deemed exports), publication of such technical information within New Zealand and transfers of such technical information by New Zealand citizens or permanent residents outside of New Zealand including the provision of technical assistance.
